Border Collies are a wonderful breed but they are not the breed for everyone. Sometimes a Border Collie doesn’t work out in someone’s home. In these cases, the dog can end up in rescue. Common reasons for a Border Collie to end up in rescue are their exercise requirements, destroying things in the home, not being a good fit with small kids, and some of the other quirks of the breed.
Many Border Collies in rescue can make a wonderful dog for another owner, provided you have the time to work with the dog and understand the needs of the breed.
Here are some rescue organizations you can contact if you are interested in a rescue Border Collie. Note that these rescues have not been screened so you should investigate them yourself before deciding if you would like to get a dog from one of them.
